ONLINE NEWSCAST FROM BYU-IDAHO Hi, I'm Kayla Gilbert and I'm here at Deseret Book where fans are lined up literally all around the building waiting in line for David to sign copies of his book, "Chords of Strength." Let's see what some fans have to say.
"I love David," shouted a group of excited little girls outside in line.
"He's LDS and he's nice and honest and he doesn't put bad stuff in his songs. He's clean," said a David fan from Rexburg.
"He's hot," said a laughing fan outside the doors.
"They gave us these post it notes to write what we want to say," said a fan from Idaho Falls. "She wrote, 'Baptisms for the dead sometime?'"
"He's got a great sense of humor," said another fan. One added, "I like his smile."
An estimated 2,000 fans lined up around the block to see their favorite celebrity. And according to Deseret Book manager Mike Jenkins, 230 copies of his book were sold on Thursday alone. Fans came from three blocks down to even three states away to come. Fans from Utah and California say that their dedication isn't only because of his music, but because of who he is.
"Humble, sweet, honest," noted a fan from California. "And he can sing. His voice...And his dedication to his fans. I think he appreciates us."
"All of those, and the fact that he never really understands how great he is, which makes him greater," said another dedicated fan.
19-year-old David says that no matter what age someone is they have something to give and to say, and his book reflects that. Each fan who skimmed through the pages and waited patiently in line to get his signature and to see that infamous, contagious smile up close say that it was well worth the wait.
